Just a quick update on Moleskine notebooks, the paper is not what it was and I’m getting a lot of bleed through from all of my pens, if you plan to use a fountain pen then avoid Moleskine notebooks books and look elsewhere.

Bridget Jones Mad About The Boy

Image
As you’ve probably guessed by the blogs over the last week I went to see the new Bridget Jones today, it was all pre booked on the Odeon app back row seats F 9-10 so after calling into WHSmith for some sweets two packets for £3 currently, it was on to the cinema. Putting the ticket in the apple wallet it’s just a case of having it scanned before going in.  As we were going in the adverts were playing on the screen, I can’t remember what it was for but it looked all sunny and tanned with tight camera angles and tighter shorts. Climbing up to our seats only to find two lady’s of a certain age one of them in one of our pre booked seats ! Lucky I’m not that OCD and just moved over one it was the 11:30 show in half term so it wasn’t busy.  The trailers are always an opportunity to see what you might watch in the coming months in the cinema, or if you are like me you’ll pledge to watch it in the cinema talk about how interesting it looks, forget and then come across it in a f...

Homebase and the demise

Image
I only remember Homebase or Sainsburys Homebase as it was when it tripled in size after its take over of the Texas DIY chain. I guess I look back with rose tinted glasses and nostalgia but it seemed new and fresh when it came to my town. I remember buying some small house plants. ( I was a strange teenager ) It must have been about ten years latter I was moving into my first house and I bought a 24v power drill from Homebase it was an own brand equivalent and was (I thought) good value, I also bought a swivel reclining chair with stool but I had to go to the High Wycombe store to pick it up. Move on to 18 months latter and the drill was on its last legs after only a few uses and the chair had collapsed through the swivel mount onto the carpet. Oh the silly things we buy in haste !  Slowly the stores started disappearing as they became less profitable and internet shopping became more popular with next day delivery, there’s no point in doing battle in an out of town car park when it...

Ted Lasso, Apple TV

Image
NBC bought the rights to show premier league football matches on mainstream U.S Television just over a decade ago and to help publicise it they turned to one of their Saturday Night Live player Jason Sudeikis to make a comedy skit an American football coach, coaching a Premier league team and making loads of mistakes to comedic effect. Have a look on you tube it’s good. Apple latched on to this and when Sudeikis left Saturday Night Live they approached him to make a series based on the Ted Lasso character, ok in the series he’s dialled down a bit but still funny.  Ted’s naïvety and middle America innocence in the cut throat world of English football make him endearing to us the audience. The cast are brilliant at performing caricatures of people in and around football. The Football hard man, The shallow striker, the tough journalist, the footballers girlfriend.  You’ll start with one and end up watching the whole season before you know it.  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Have fun stay...

The undercroft, South Bank London

Image
A short walk from the millennium eye there’s the Queen Elizabeth Hall which hosts musical acts mainly classical jazz and avant-garde.    Since the 70’s it’s become a home of skate boarders, BMX riders and graffiti artists. For safety reason there’s a railing placed around the undercroft and tourists with cameras line it to video and photograph the skateboarders as they perform their tricks. Personally I thing they’re hoping one will fall off and they can get £250 from you’ve been framed or America’s funniest videos. If you have a free day take a walk down the south bank your self, start at Westminster bridge and go down to Tower bridge. Get an overpriced coffee and look at the book stall, there’s a parade of shops you can look in and a shopping centre near HMS Belfast. You can see the buildings in the City and then across to Canary Wharf. There’s lots to see and experience and you’ll have a great day out and some photos too.

Chest

Image
It’s back to the gym before taking a rest tomorrow.  I kicked off with cross trainer on intervals 14 not high but a slog after leg day yesterday. I managed a full 30 minutes set just.  It was on to chest press next on the machine starting low at 20kg and moving up to 35kg. It felt good ! Flys next on the machine 35kg and uping it to 55kg and actually struggling towards the end.  Incline press next adding 30kg to start and upping it to 35kg  Decline press and I tried to mirror the incline press  Then cable flys to finish not heavy but nice and light but slow starting with 7.5kg out wide and upping it to 10kg a side to finish. Have fun stay safe 👍🏼
