S.I.A Door supervisor course day two morning.

It’s day two and back to the class room. We need to finish off module one from yesterday.

It’s an introduction to record keeping to start with. Why records are kept and the format that these records are kept in. The key basics are an introduction with name of reporter and date followed by who, what, where, why and how followed by end of report time and date.

Then there are the reasons why reports are dismissed as evidence with the Advocate acronym.

A Amount of time eg only seeing something for a brief moment.

D Distance away from the events.

V visibility was it foggy or was it through glass that was opaque.

O Observation impaired was it through a hedge or other obstacles.

K known to witness the observer already knows the person and is there fore bias.

A Any reason for misunderstanding did you only see the end of the incident and not the beginning.

T Time elapsed after the event. Is the statement written a long time after the event.

E Errors mistakes that are obvious wrong time or place or ethnic background.

Then it was on to terror threats I won’t go into it for obvious reasons but it was informative.

The final morning task was to write a statement about a video that was played to us. It had to be in the for we’d been taught and we were given a long time two hours to write it. It took me about 35 minutes to write out the information and format it into a statement. Some people really struggled with this task.

Have fun stay safe 👍🏼
