Slough Town FC vs Dagenham and Redbridge FC

It’s Slough Town’s final match of the season against the newly minted Dagenham and Redbridge FC and the weather was glorious with even a little bit of sunburn from the late April sun.

Walking to the match as it s only 15 minutes away from my home you get a sense that it’s close by when the smell of burgers and fried onions carry on the wind. I treated my self to a cider expensive at £5.40 but I guess thst how a small club makes its money. There was a small wait to be served but it moved quickly. A novelty for football fans is the ability to take the drink outside within sight of the pitch !

Being a lunch time kick off I also treated myself to a cheese burger and chips. The price £11.40 for a cheese burger with a small portion of chips the picture is what you get.

Now on to the football it’s self, for the first half I stood behind the away goal and that’s where most of the Slough fans gathered. It was a good vibe with drums and wheels bins being drummed and chants constantly being sang (Slough is the home of the wheels bin) the football was back and forth with Dagenham taking an early lead. Slough dug in and had really were unlucky with their attacks until break through to make it 1-1 a scrappy goal with a shot from the left deflected to be ticked away. From the kickoff Dagenham were on the front foot and made it 1-2 just moments later and the fans dipped. Slough players immediately got on the front foot and pushed up. Unlucky with the first few attacks there was breakthrough just before half time to make it 2-2 at the break. Being slowly roasted by the sun I nipped in to get a coke and twix to get me through to the end.

The second half was really dominated by Slough Town who were pushing up on the attack constantly. Dagenham did break a couple of times but nothing to really test the keeper. Mid way through the second half there was a breakthrough making it 3-2 to Slough a low shot from the inside the box after some nicely worked ball work. Slough nursed the match out to win their final home match of the 2025/26 season.

I have to say it’s a good day out, with tickets only being £15 and £12 for concessions the soft drinks are cheap and the vibe is fun. There’s lots of football banter and chants to sing to, if you want a quiet time you can have that as well by being in the opposite side to the main fan base. Everyone is welcoming and friendly, I think I’ll make more effort to visit next season and support the rebels.

Have fun stay safe πŸ‘πŸΌ
