Sonny Boy, Al Pacino

Al Pacino grew up in a poor neighbourhood in New York and that city would shape him and mould him into the man and actor he would become.

Starting off with his childhood experiences and those of his friends there are some harsh lessons and events. Of course it outlines how he develops in acting from early days in theatre to breaking through into films and “The Godfather” which would be the breakout role. There are small behind the scenes snippets but nothing that stands out.

Of course there are relationships and friendships but if I’m honest there’s no drama or cross words, Al always treats people with respect and kindness and that’s a constant theme throughout the book.

This was a top selling book of 2024 and it’s worth looking at, it’s a nice gentle read that can be dipped in and out of, it’s perfect for a holiday.
