Written in in the late 90’s this book has gone on to be included in the content for military academy’s across the globe due to its analysis of famous military mistakes. Focusing mainly on the Second World War and later this books offers a great insight into those actions that were less the successful and explores the reasons and beliefs behind the decisions taken.
The author has a background in military intelligence and it comes through with the clear and concise analysis of the events. Various World War Two battles where there were a catalogue of mistakes made, on it to Korea, Vietnam, The Middle East and beyond all well researched and explained.
There are some important lessons out lined in this volume not only should it appeal to the military historian but any one who’s looking to build strategy’s for life, work and family could draw a lot from the reflections made here. Assumptions and poor communication are compounded by ignorance and lead to failure.
Highly recommend and a must for important lessons,
