S.I.A door supervisor day one afternoon

The afternoon of day one starts with some course admin, this is the S.I.A course main element now and there are some hoops to jump through.

There are some permissions that we have to give, filming and photography consent a vulnerable persons consent and a declaration for physical intervention training.

There’s an English language test that a lot of people struggle with, the first section is reading a notice then answering questions and then it’s writing some statements the first about what you did yesterday and the second on where you are taking the assessment.

There’s a short test to assess your knowledge and readiness for the course it’s straight forward if you’ve done the course work.

When the course gets going it’s intense, starting with criminal law and types of offences and the terms that define them and powers of arrest.

There was a health and safety section that includes RIDDOR, the reporting of serious incidents to the government.

Accident reports and near miss reporting and the value of these procedures.

PPE and why it’s issued and the value of using and the items that can be termed PPE.

Lone working and the risks involved and the ways of mitigating those risks.

Personal data and information handling and the importance of recording data and how to keep it safe.

Fire training and the use of fire extinguishers

Fire marshal’s their purpose and duty’s

Emergencies and what is classed as an emergency and how to escalate when and emergency is happening.

Crowd control and evacuation and invacuation and when these are used.

Bomb threats and what to take note of and key points to remember.

Communication, the nato phonetic alphabet and how to use it.

Vulnerable people and how to safe guard them and the legislation around them !

It’s a full on afternoon but good and well taught.

Have fun stay safe 👍🏼
