Afternoon ride

 

On my drive home I contemplated turning left and going to the gym but the bright sunshine and dry roads made me think of going for a nice cycle. 

I got in and changed into my cycle gear picked up a couple of gels and made my way out.

I set off out of slough and down into Datchet and then followed the road into Windsor, there are some temporary traffic lights near Windsor riverside station so I had the pleasure of undertaking all the traffic that had just overtaken me. I made my way between the river and the park and under the railway bridge, past the leisure centre and out on the to Maidenhead road. It’s a nice wide road with a slight incline just after the roundabout I turned as if heading to Bracknell and followed the road for a few miles. After 11 or so miles I turned for Maidenhead and went through all the little villages to get there. I bypassed the centre of Maidenhead and went on to the A4 over the Maidenhead bridge and I followed the road all the way to Slough. My feet started to get really cold on the 15 mile mark I could really feel the cold setting in. I made it through slough and home.

Windsor farm shop and cafe

  ℬ𝒾𝓈𝒸𝑜𝒻𝒻 𝒷𝒾𝓈𝒸𝓊𝒾𝓉 𝒶𝓃𝒹 ℳ𝑜𝒸𝒽𝒶 On the way home from the gym I really wanted a pasty for tea tonight so after a healthy lunch I went to the Windsor farm shop to get an old Windsor pasty, well two actually I’ll have one tomorrow as well.  𝒲𝒾𝓃𝒹𝓈𝑜𝓇 ℱ𝒶𝓇𝓂 𝒮𝒽𝑜𝓅 ℐ𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇𝒾𝑜𝓇  There’s a lot on offer in the farm shop itself, there’s essentially a whole village of shops wrapped up into one. There’s a bakery, butcher, delicatessen and a small off licence too. Be warned yes all the products are really nice but the do have a premium price too ! 𝒲𝒾𝓃𝒹𝓈𝑜𝓇 𝒻𝒶𝓇𝓂 𝓈𝒽𝑜𝓅 𝒾𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓇𝒾𝑜𝓇 But if it’s pay day or treat day it’s worth a look and if you’re already out you can visit Runnymede memorials or the air force’s memorial as they are close by.  Have fun stay safe 👍🏼

Lunchtime walk to Windsor

𝒲𝒾𝓃𝒹𝓈𝑜𝓇 𝒞𝒶𝓈𝓉𝓁𝑒 𝒻𝓇𝑜𝓂 𝒫𝑒𝒶𝓈𝒸𝑜𝒹  𝓈𝓉𝓇𝑒𝑒𝓉 After spending the morning watching Kubrick’s Lolita and then writing about it I needed some fresh air, so with the headphones freshly charged I was up and out. There was no evidence of the Slough Grand Prix today so it must have been a quiet night. The only eyesore is the refuse on the streets, the fortnightly collection means bin bags get piled up and the ripped apart by the ever growing numbers of urban foxes looking for the rotting food inside. As I get out of the town I regret my outfit, I’m wearing a base layer, a wooly jumper and a coat the sun is bright and I’m getting hot. I’ve only bought a camera bag with me so I’ll have to suffer it and take the lesson.
