United States of America Embassy, London, Nine Elms

U.S Embassy London from Grovsnor Road
It wasn’t the best time of day to be photographing buildings on the southern side of the Thames, the morning winter light was back lighting them and the reflected winter light from low on the horizon was difficult for a poor photographer returning to the hobby. But here’s my effort for you consideration.

I will tell you a bit about the building but looking at this picture now it’s here I think I should’ve cropped it tighter and cut the edges of the buildings left and right off. What do you think ?

This is the Building that was lambasted by President Donald Trump when he came for its official opening in 2018 it had been in use since 2016 but wasn’t completed until 2018. It’s very much a modern US Embassy and built with security in mind and is well isolated from the roads around it and has lots of defensive measures ending with a huge Marine at the door.

It is the largest US Embassy in Western Europe the scale of the US Mission being the largest. Our countries do share a lot of military and political powers ( two major us air bases, a common pool of Trident missiles and permanent members of the UN Security Council )

President Donald Trump in my opinion does have a good point regarding the Embassy in in London for nearly 100 years it was in the heart of Mayfair which is arguably the most expensive part of London and selling the lease on the land for 250 million seems a bit cheap to me. But there was a mass of development put into Nine Elms around the embassy at the time of its construction that run into billions so it might balance out some how.

Have fun stay safe πŸ‘πŸ»
