Just around the corner from parliament and Westminster bridge lies Waterloo station and Leake Street which is a gathering place for graffiti artists.

This was my second time visiting Leake street the first I was on a walking London quiz that was actually an excuse for a pub crawl. By the time we got as far as Leake street we had both consumed far too much alcohol and the gloss of the quiz had worn off. Where as earlier in the quiz it was oh there’s the answer look at the architectural curiosity by this point it was more “I can’t be arsed with this let’s jack it in and go to the pub !” But we managed to get to the end and the challenge finished in a gay bar at the top of Leake street.

I have absolutely no artistic talent it has to be said so when I see these realistic portraits with the shadows a details in the eyes and lips I’m in awe. To be able to capture that moment and convey the emotion and feeling I could sit for a thousand years and never reproduce it.

To have the skill and patience to stand here for hours slowly building your vision must be so therapeutic.
