Leake street graffiti part 2

So the main point of my day out in London was to visit Leake Street and photograph the graffiti, I might not be able to draw it but I can photograph it and record it for posterity. In my last article I focused on portraits and the life like images for this I’ll show the some of the other work.

The bull is immediately on the entrance to Leake street and it’s been there for a while as I remember it from our visit months ago where as most of the rest has been replaced.

Leake street side tunnel

Nearly
half way under the arches there is a tunnel that leads off to a parade of restaurants, there’s an American themed restaurant full of baseball memorabilia where you can get a pretty good Philly Cheese steak and there’s a Polish restaurant that looks good and makes traditional Polish food. But the celling of the tunnel caught my eye and the way the lights picked out some of the detail. It looks dark a dingy but it’s actually well lit once inside .

Piece under construction !

Just on the other side of the arches there’s a bit of road that’s a dead end now and there were two artists laying down some new work there were no reference materials just a collection of paint and a free flow of ideas.

Laying out Graffiti
Just near this dead end there was a group of young school kids obviously skipping school for the day, some how they had managed to acquire a can of spray paint and as one of them was painting another was adding his interpretation by trying to light the vapour with a lighter he had swiped from somewhere. There was no harm in any of them they were children being children. But I think I captured the moment when the welfare team caught them to return them to school!
