Does anyone remember buying a digital single lens reflex 15-20 years ago ? You opened the box and not only did you get the camera, battery, charger and strap but you also got the cables for video output and usb connection ( you don’t now ) but you also got a cd with photoshop elements. Of course you read the manual and charged the battery fully and went to test your new camera and then you fired up photoshop elements and played around. 

Yes all the filters were there and like the Vouge editor you retouched your photos like a pro or you over did it like me and it looked a hot mess ! Well now if you want photoshop elements or full product it’s a monthly subscription, you can get lightroom on a Mac for a high price but otherwise it’s all subscription based. 

There is an alternative, Affinity photo works across Mac OS, Windows and IPad IOS and it’s as simple or as complex as you want it to be. It you’re just starting out you can use it to apply filters to you photos to lift them and when you get more confident you can start exploring more complex manipulation with layers and masks to produce some incredible art work. 

If you have an IPad or IPad Pro it’s £17.99 for a powerful photo manipulation software or you could get the complete package of apps and software across all platforms for under £150 for the life of the product including updates. 

There are multiple courses on you tube on how to use affinity photo and they will walk you through the complete process of photo improvement.

Sales, shopping and storms

  Last night I listed some of the golf balls on eBay, the Titleist Pro V1’s and the TruFeel’s. Now it’s a crowded market on eBay so I placed them on promotion to be listed top. This morning I had sold both listings not for much but it’s a start.  After a quick visit to Tesco it was down to the local parcel shop to send them off.  It was an afternoon of preparing more golf balls to be listed and then a quick walk up Rowley lane and a big haul of 28 balls. When I inspected them at home three of the more valuable ones had small splits so we’re condemned to the bin.  I’ll keep you posted on more sales, have fun stay safe πŸ‘πŸΌ

Afternoon walk

  It was an afternoon walk, I headed up to Rowley path as I feel there might have been a few Christmas golfers. I made it up to the top of the path and back. I found 11 balls today which was good going. The farmer had also been out with the chainsaw making the path safe by cutting some fallen trees. He’d left a can of two stroke petrol/oil mix near the tree so I grabbed it and left it on a fence post near to the farm for them to find in the daylight. It was a nice walk, I’ve finished Phoenix and I’m onto a new book so look out for a bad review.  Have fun stay safe πŸ‘πŸΌ
