Trip to London, walking and photography

It’s my second rest day and I thought I’d take a little trip to London and go for a walk. The weather is nice and clear so I stuffed the camera into the back pack and see if I could capture some nice photos, I was hoping to take photographs that were a bit different and I had one key place to visit Leake street near Waterloo station. 

I’d been there before with my friend we did a walking quiz/adventure game just before the general election last year. It was more an opportunity to visit lots of different pubs and get drunk, the record was 2 hours and it took us closer to 8 to finish and I nearly gave up twice. Oh and to top things off it finished in a gay bar my friend was not impressed.

Leake Street Graffiti 

Leake street constantly evolves and changes and artwork is replaced and refreshed. There’s lots of styles all mashed into one place, the highly realistic portraits, classic graffiti lettering and even just tags from local children it’s all there. Talking of tags the mindless destruction of property there’s a new mass tagger in London. Twenty years ago it was Tox until they got caught now there’s a replacement 10 foot. Mostly near rail infrastructure as I got the train into Paddington station there were lots of tags on the cutting walls, also near Vauxhall station. I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before they are caught by the police.

I went for a walk down the SouthBank there’s also some graffiti there where the skateboarders practice, some of it it good and thoughtful some is there to remember people who have passed away and the rest is names and tags. It gets very busy there and every tourist with a camera was waiting and taking pictures or video. Maybe if you catch someone falling off and bruising their bum you van send it in to the Japanese equivalent of you’ve been framed and get ¥250,000 who knows.

South Bank Skate Park 

I continued down the south bank and all the way to tower bridge there were lots of photos on the way but that’s for future content (I ve walked 12.5 miles today I have to make the most of it !) I had a bite to eat and came home. So the plan is to break down my photos subject by subject and then it’ll be the most dragged out dull side show you’ll ever experienced, hopefully with some whit along the way. 

There are 146 images from today don’t worry I’ll whittle them down and make it more palatable to read about.
