There’s one, one fountain pen to which all are compared the literal master of pens the Mont Blanc Meisterstuck 149. 

Mont Blanc make a whole range of pens and the snow cap star is just the epitome of class. The 149 is the master the top of the tree in the production range.

How best to describe the 149 in one word it’s obscene, just obscene. It’s too big when you first pick it up. You are used to a normal pen and this is just slightly too large it’s awkward to hold. The nib is huge and looks more like an arrow head than a pen nib as it shines in gold. 

To write with ahhh that’s the question and the whole point. I have to tell you firstly that if you buy this pen new then you can send the Nib back to Mont Blanc and they will grind it for you to your specifications so it will write exactly as you want it to. But even with a plain medium nib it’s a joy to use and the marker for all pens. It’s light and perfect in the hand the nib kisses the page as you write and is infinitely controllable if you want a thin line you get it a fat line to make your point you got it it’s an extension of you’re hand. 

I wouldn’t recommend it though, it’s too big and too expensive. Especially when it has a little brother that delivers the same punch but for less money. The 146 is the model down from this one a slightly smaller nib but same great feel. 

If you want the best.but a 149 if you want to write every day buy a 146 and enjoy. 

I love my 149 if you’re lucky enough to own one treasure it and use it. Write long notes and pages reveal in its design and craftsmanship don’t let it sit in a box it’s crime.
