I have to say I have a soft spot for Pelikan pens at the high end their SouverΓ€n range are some of  the best pens you could ever buy and the limited editions sell out fast.

At the more affordable end of the market they have the Pina Colada for slightly older children. For young children there’s the Pelikan Twist which has a great design well look at that another time. This model may not look like much but don’t be deceived. The grip is perfect and easy to use, guiding your fingers into the correct position. The nib is brilliant for a steel nib it floats on the page and has constant performance no dry starts and perfect every time. ( my pens live on their sides for 7-10 days between use )

The good news is that it takes a standard ink cartridge or a longer Pelikan ink cartridge and is versatile in which cartridges it will take. There’s even a clip to keep it in your pocket a rare thing these days.

If your child is a little older and you’re looking for a good quality fountain pen for a reasonable price then this is for you. It’s not the best looking but it more than makes up for this in functionality.
