Restitution on resolutions
It’s New Year’s Eve and all over the world people will be celebrating and lots will make resolutions.
Firstly I think that self improvement is a noble quest and something we should all do. Lots of people fail at their resolutions after a short time I think it’s because they take on too much and expect radical changes in short time frames. Try to be realistic and if you don’t succeed straight away use it as a learning curve and apply that to the next attempt. You didn’t fail you learned what to expect so you can be better the next time !
If it’s a big or complex change you want then break it down and turn it into steps only move forward once you’ve completed the step you’re on !
I’ve come a long way this year and I only had two main objectives at the start.
I wanted to train either at the gym or outside consistently
I also wanted to quit nicotine for good, I wasn’t smoking but those little pouches.
The first one was easy to set up a routine and maintain it, I’ve been going to the gym 3-4 times a week and getting in some long walks or in the summer cycling for a few hours. It’s good after a workout you’ve achieved something and there’s also a release of endorphins from your body which make you feel good and help you relax.
The second was a lot harder, I’ve been using nicotine since I was sixteen first smoking then vaping and finally moving on to the little pouches. It’s very hard to break free and the cravings are strong. It’s very took until the end of September to give up nicotine and even though it’s only been three months I think this time it’s going to stick and I’ll be free from that addiction.
Tomorrow I’ll look at my plan for 2025 and write down some aspirations and hopes for the coming year and we can see how I do with them !
I wish you the best of luck with your resolutions and if you want to reach out you can any time !
