I write a daily journal, most what happened during the day and any thoughts or things I need to process. Most of the time it’s just routine information.
To partner writing the journal I have a large collection of fountain pens this is my latest. LAMY are a German manufacturer founded in 1930 by a former Parker sales man.

There’s a big cult around LAMY Safari’s the collector scene is big, every year LAMY releases limited edition colours and there are also limited number special editions also. If you have any old LAMY Safari’s in a draw have a look the dark forest green is well sort after .
So what are they like to write with ? I would describe them as a school type pen. There’s an easy grip with triangular grip that guides your thumb and index finger to the conventional place it’s light and easy to write with and helps you to form neat writing ( my handwriting is normally sloppy but the safari forces good technique ). If you use the standard ink cartridge you can put it in the body screw it to the nib and it will form a seal no need to push in an awkward cartridge it’s designed to be simple. There’s also a little window to check your ink level. Both my safaris are medium nib and it’s a happy medium though a fine or extra fine would be as good to write with.
If you are looking for a good value all round fountain pen a LAMY Safari is a safe choice the cartridges can be a bit more expensive than standard if you live in Germany there are cheaper multi fit cartridges but here in UK there’s the LAMY brand. If you want to get into writing or collecting pens it’s an easy route in before going to a premium pen that’s designed for more extravagant writing.
