Bush War Operator, A J Balaam.

If you like military journals or have an interest in the history of Zimbabwe  then you should give this a read.

A personal account of the Rhodesian civil war and the trials and tribulations of being in the front lines. There’s no punches pulled and at times this book can be graphic in its portrayal of a bitter conflict where more western books are sanitised for a broader audience.

I read this after reading some accounts by Rhodesian S.A.S and I have to say it’s a welcome break. The writer is a lot more humble and down to earth in his story telling. Everything is laid out thoughts and fears, mistakes and victory’s. A journey that pulls you along gently. If you have an interest in the Bush war of Rhodesia and the development of modern Zimbabwe then you should check out this book for a broader understanding of the units involved there missions and mindsets.
